Summer of 2023 …
Welcome to a new season at the Cuttyhunk Historical Society. Our Museum will have new hours, new features, and — we expect — many new faces! Find your Membership materials in the Quarterboard newsletter, or join or renew by selecting the “Donate” tab above. We open on Wednesday, June 28, and will hold our Annual Party and Auction on Saturday, July 1. Check our Calendar, at right, and “Visit” page for our hours.
The Museum of the Elizabeth Islands, run by the Cuttyhunk Historical Society, is located on the southernmost in a chain of islands between Buzzards Bay and Vineyard Sound in Massachusetts. We preserve, celebrate, and share the history and culture of all the islands, which together make up the Town of Gosnold. We offer exhibits, a children’s learning area, a research library, maps, educational programming for children and adults, and a gift shop.

NEW FOR ’23 — Islands as Muse
Get ready to immerse yourself in the art of Cuttyhunk and the Elizabeth Islands. This year’s new exhibit, “Islands as Muse —Art from the Cuttyhunk Historical Society Collection,” will draw on the Museum’s art archive with works dating back as far as a century or more. Many revered artists, including both local and those with national or international reputations, will be represented through oil paintings, watercolors and drawings, needlework, wood carving, shell mosaics, ceramics, writing or poetry. Prepare to see the islands as others see them — and be inspired!
